Despite the one time when I did see them ;a brawl occurred briefly between a friend and the lead vocals of this band, I still have the decency to admit that there is at least a thread of potential in this. It feels like a new genre/style is brewing in an underground movement called #UKSWELL. Unfortunately bands like BASTIONS remain the skid marks of such a potential swing of music. But none the less, Kerouac are often seen alongside Pariso who i whole heartedly promote, despite the un-neccesarily short tracks and combined albums/EPs . They are producing new unique stock and have a small, but strong following.
Music Legend Pete Doherty is out of prison after just 6 WEEKS of a 6 MONTH prison sentence.
This has delighted fans, enabling them to witness him perform at the various festivals/gigs he had previously agreed to attend. Rumours have it that he is to still perform at the Reading Festival this year. Also news has spread that new performances have been announced in the UK this year, links to buy tickets are :

He was sentanced to 6 months prison initially due to possession of Cocaine, a Class A drug, with other potential cases dangling over his head ( the death of a film maker, annd a robbery of a guitar from a music shop in Germany), Pete has had a rocky year. With the incredible success of the Libertines performance at Reading Festival last year, it seemed he had grown out of the troublesome days. Some people just attract trouble. Also i heard the other day that the women who is the father of Pete Doherty's son is the mother of a child from Liam Gallagher, wikipedia just confirmed that one for me ;).

In other news i have discovered an artist named Michael Kiwanuka, a singer/songwriter from North London. I think he has great vocals bringing around a style of music which does not get played much in general, from my experience. It is relaxing and inspiring, check it :
Glastonbury festival organisers have revealed the full line-up for this June's event.

The Ghost of A Thousand Announce Final Performance
A tragic piece of news hit the media last night on the 31st March 2011. The Ghost Of A Thousand confirmed the end of their time together, after a 7 year run of inspiring young hearts, reminding us of the essence of punk and demonstrating how to truly put every thing you have into what you love , and with much pride.
I have been blasting TGOAT for 2 years through my speakers, ipod and own voice. I think it's tragic, another band calling it a day because of un-inspiring prospects of their future. They must have been convinced it wasn't progressing or meeting expectations. I think it is underestimated how important their music was for a) British music industry b) young musicians c) every venue they stepped foot in d) every festival they played . I witnessed nothing but enthusiastic die hard fans at each performance i went to. I will never let them be forgotten and by no means will i stop listening to TGOAT on a regular basis.

With a relatively recent release of a solo album, Carl Barat is offering you the chance to win a rest for your cheeks next Monday 21st March. With no question, no payment required, it is a means for the honest ,( maybe slightly poor) fan to experience a close session with him. The location is unconfirmed but the way to win is very simple
Send an e-mail to : FAN.SUPPORT@PIAS.COM
The e-mail should simple consist of a reason why you think you should be there, pro tip : don't beg and use sob stories, i am sure everyone is, even I stumbled a few desperate pleas in mine but i woke this morning with a feeling of slight regret for doing so . Best of luck.
These guys have been recently touring the UK promoting their latest release 'Blessed and Cursed', playing from up North to down South , i had the upmost pleasure of seeing them at one of their final gig at the Camden Underworld in London Town. With most support spots taken up by 'Feed The Rhino' ( deservedly) the tour was a highly anticipated one . DSHS, in my eyes, is a progressive/semi-hardcore act, but genre terms are so loose these days its hard to pin point the exact correct terminology but i feel an uprising in a new field of music is in the woodworks from bands in this category.
Feed The Rhino was an artist i knew nothing about, but their presence on stage told me they had done this before, the matching black vests and almost compulsory sleeves would indicate certain closet agreements were done pre tour life. But disregard that, it's about the music, and these guys worked the crowd. There was a presence of FTR fans already present , the sound they provided was entirely head bang worthy if not further body movement . There were signs of excellence amongst the tightness they had amongst each other, and it must be stated they even though their drummer was hidden in the dingy corner of the Camden Underworld his presence was definately felt and i commend him on his efforts. My only complaint regarding FTR was that of a samey vibe throughout their setlist, each song was not indistinguishable from the other . But this perhaps due to the not ideal sound system the venue hosts. I can imagine these guys doing well in many smaller festivals this summer , maybe watch out on the phlegming on the audience would be one tip i gave, it wont always be 14 year olds that they land upon. But i would rate these 4/5 For sure. And as i was entirely clueless regarding who they are beforehand it is a strong rating, the performance was enough to engrave a clear memory .
This was the first time i had witnessed DSHS headline, always just under the main acts at all the festivals and gigs i had been to in the last year or so. With a new intro sound clip leading into Tides which worked quite elegantly and presenting their new bassist 'Jozef Norocky' who seemed to fit into his role quite nicely. Richard Chapple seemed in awe whilst playing throughout, Ed Gibbs was endlessly thanking the crowd and was ecstatic throughout. The performance included mainly of B&C but a off the earlier releases got the crowd moving even more so, with the classic ' Like it's your last' and 'Hope' as a finale , i don't think anyone could have argued the set list ( even though i believe hope was a shortened version, could be wrong).
The thing about devil is it's progressive, and i note that when they perform , most people around me are in their own place enjoying the experience in a individual way. I can't stop to guess what goes through their mind with the sounds and lights they see but i know what goes through mine, epic scenarios usually depicting the end of the world work quite well to DSHS songs.
FUCK YES - TurboWolf !!!!
I accidently had the pleasure of stumbling across a new rock n' roll band whilst dwindling along in East London last friday Night. The venue - The Old Blue Last, which had a warm welcome , with Stu from the Gallows by the frost door - sporting the American baseball style jacket ( un-neccesarily) stating GALLOWS CREW on the back . Regardless of that aspect, i was an eager beaver for the absolutely under-rated Ghost Of A Thousand, of whom i saw strolling around the venue . In the "overly" ( but realisticly underly) cool district of where i was, surrounded by the camera wielding douches who insist on wearing minature hill billy wooly hats with matching hilly billy checkered shirts, i was eager ( as always) to discover new hope in the genre of rock n' roll.
I was greeted to the stage area/upstairs bar by an unknown band with an awesome hair wearing, very noticable front -Wo-man.With her screaming the NIN -'I want to fuck you like an animal' it was of no surprise to hear small chat between guys consisting of nothing but their primative desires. With an average performance but better than average presence i wish them the best of luck - but experience is the only aspect they lack, good on them. And supporting TGOAT at that level of earliness in a bands career is truly fucking sick to be honest.
The second band , i dont even want to name this absolute horror to music, with the shame of the fact that one of my favourite bassists ( Stu) actually demonstrating support for the Welsh band - XXXXX , my opinions on them are that they should stay in Wales, and not try to progress any further than that. It was a reminder of how bad music can be, how people can get too carried away with wrong routes - the hardcore scene is one that wont be remembered by anybody, except in the listeners regrets 10 years later. I fucking hate hardcore( modern hardcore that is).
This peice of shit band aint worth a second more of my thoughts, fuck em.
NOW TO THE POINT
Turbowolf
These guys knew what they were doing - with interesting and unique appearances that falls back into the old days of rock n' roll , crazy shirts, ridiculously long hair, skinny bodies, skinny clothes and heart for music. I knew before they even started that they were about to impress me. The crowd were hyped to an extreme level before the end of the first song, then catastrophe struck. With technical problems on the guitarists amp, even for the first song , the set was cut very short . The front man was riding the waves of the audience in that short time, engraving memories in our heads of baubels flying everywhere, he knew how to work a crowd.
Later research led me to discover that these guys supported Korn across Europe and have played alongside PABH ( another upcoming band i dig). Fucking check them out, i was distraught to discover that 2010 was the worst year for rock music in the charts for 50 FUCKING YEARS YEA. So basically we need to buy more music ! Or go to more performances, do your part for music .
